This thread will be used to discuss SIBO.

Herbal therapy is equivalent to rifaximin for the treatment of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4030608/

This study lists the commercial herbal preparations it used and compared them against rifaximin and comes to the following conclusion: "The present study demonstrates that herbal therapy may be as effective as antibiotic therapy in the treatment of small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), as indirectly measured by normalization of the lactulose breath test abnormalities."

Also worth noting: "Although the overall prevalence of SIBO in the general public is unknown, a meta-analysis has shown that the prevalence of SIBO is approximately 56% among patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)."
