Dupuytren's Contracture

lso known as: Dupuytren's disease, morbus Dupuytren, and "Celtic hand".

Dupuytren's contracture is a hand deformity that causes thickening of the palm and the presence of lumps (nodules) on the palm. These nodules progress towards contraction which can prevent extension of the fingers.

I have found references online by two herbalists I trust that suggest that high, sustained doses of Vitamin E might help (in the range of 2000-2400 IU a day sustained over months and then reduced).

Michael Tierra has an article titled Treating Dupuytren's Disease with Vitamin E that goes into detail about the Vitamin E treatment which is based on the work of Dr. Jonathan Wright.

Note that Tierra states: "I have not seen any results whatsoever with acupuncture nor the external or internal use of herbs."

Some other suggestions I've seen from a mailing list I'm a member of: heated castor oil, gluten free diet, gotu kola, magnesium, and Galium aparine.
